Dad won't buy me a smartphone: Meet the Indian Parents

Are you an Indian Teenager( around 16)? Do you wish to buy a smartphone on your coming birthday but your parents won't buy you one just because you are not mature enough? Well, this is very common among Indian parents but after reading this post, your dad might just gift you one happily (only if you follow what I say)!

WHAT YOU MUST DO

GOOD GRADES: Yes that's right! Achieve good grades! Every Indian Parent wants their child to be good in studies. Achieving good grades makes your Parents proud and very happy( and you will feel proud too! ).

DISCIPLINE & LOVE: Be good to your parents. Respect and Love them. Show your affection towards them by telling them how much you love ( and don't love them just for the sake of expecting a phone in return ) and care for them.

SUPPORT: Parents go through the highs and lows of life. You must support them at these times and let them know that you are there for them.

TELL THEM ABOUT THE ADVANTAGES OF SMARTPHONE: Let them know why they should buy you a smartphone. Tell them how it would help you in studies and how it is a great source of entertainment at the same time.

WHAT YOU MUSTN'T DO

DON'T TALK BACK: Never talk back to your parents. This will show your disrespect towards them.

BAD HABITS: Don't get addicted to bad habits. If you already have a feature phone and are always texting/chatting in front of your parents, then you have a high chance of not getting a smartphone. Also, other bad habits like drugs should be avoided at all costs.

NO RELATIONSHIPS: You might get attracted to a lot (if not one) of guys/girls at this age. But Indian Parents strictly hate the idea of relationships at this age and they would only think of the smartphone as a way of communicating more with your partner, which would distract you more from your studies.

DON'T ASK THEM FOR AN iPHONE 5S: The iPhone/other costly phones cost around Rs 50K and it is not possible for every parent to buy them. Instead you could ask them the price range that they are comfortable with and then search for phones within that price bracket.

(Read: Best smartphone under Rs 10,000)

If you follow these simple rules in your life, your parents will never hesitate in giving you any gadget you want and your life would be simpler.

Also, don't just get addicted to smart phone after you get it, as this may result in poor grades, no physical sports, etc which might become a reason for your parents to snatch away your phone

The Google Nexus 5: The Bold, The Smart, The Affordable.

Google has done it again! It did it with the Nexus 4 and now it has done it with the Nexus 5. The extremely powerful, extremely affordable (manufactured by LG)Nexus 5 has been out for some time now and everyone's loving it! Not only because it's powered by the latest high end hardware, but also because of it's extremely affordable price. It is the best phone (in terms of hardware) under Rs 30,000.

The Nexus 5 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Quad Core processor clocked at 2.23 GHZ along with Adreno 330 @ 450 MHZ. The 4.95 inch IPS full HD Display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The RAM is the same 2 GB. The 8 MP camera now supports HDR+,Photo Sphere, 360° view(also available in previous Nexus phones)  besides other standard featues like Auto focus, OIS and Full HD video recording. The secondary camera is a 1.3 MP one. Connectivity options include 2G, 3G, 4G LTE, GPS, Wifi ac/a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4 and NFC along with built in wireless charging. Google promises a 17 hour talk time (2G) before the 2300 mAH battery reaches 0%. Proximity, Ambient light and Pressure sensors along with compass are also featured. The phone comes pre loaded with Android 4.4 KitKat.

This phone is a beast and can handle whatever you throw at it. The Snapdragon 800 is the best SOC right now and phones costing around Rs 45000 are powered by it, but Google decided to include it into it's  Nexus 5 and price it competitively. The best piece of hardware at such prize is difficult to find. The Nexus phones have an advantage: They are the first to receive the latest Android OS updates. Also, they are priced unbelievably and are powered by the best and latest hardware available in  market.

The Nexus 5 retails at around Rs. 29900 (16 GB) online.

This is one phone I strongly recommend if you want to spend 30K and get the (close to, if not best) best phone around.

This beautiful piece of hardware has been made by Apple. Apple calls it the new breed of the Mac Pros.

The best Android smartphone under Rs 10,000

India is flooded with low cost android powered smartphones. You can find a Standard Android phone for as low as Rs 3,500 and this price can go upto Rs 50,000(for the Big company phones). But after Micromax launched low cost phones with high performance hardware, the change was inevitable. Big companies started dropping their smartphone costs due to the competition. Where Samsung is selling the dual core Galaxy Grand at 18,000  Lava, Micromax and other Indian and Chinese based companies are selling Quad Core phones under 10,000 with better features and much much better hardware.
With a plethora of Smartphones falling under the price tag of 10,000 , it is difficult to find the best phone, especially when you are not that much into gadgets and want a smartphone that can do it all. So, here i am to help you out!
I did a lot of research and searched online sites , asked my friends who owned a low cost smartphone, used a lot of low cost smartphones and finally came to the conclusion that the XOLO Q700i beat all other phones under Rs 10,000(and even some phones which cost more than Rs 10,000 )
Coming on to the specs, The Xolo Q700i is powered by a 1.2 GHZ Quad core Cortex A7 processor, a PowerVR SGX544 GPU and 1 GB RAM. The phone boasts a 4.5 inch qHD IPS(960x540) OGS display with a pixel density of 245 ppi. 4 GB internal memory has been provided which can be expanded upto 32  GB via the sd card slot. The primary camera is an 8 MP camera with features such as Autofocus, BSI sensor, HDR, Face detection, Full HD video recording and an LED flash. The front facing camera is a standard 2 MP. For connectivity you've got Bluetooth v3.0 and Wifi a/b/g/n. The phone is also equipped with other standard features such as GPS, Proximity sensor, Ambient Light sensor, Accelerometer and surprisingly, a Magnetometer (used for smartcovers). The phone ships with Android Jellybean 4.2. The battery is a standard 2400 mAH Li-on battery. The XOLO Q700i supports dual sim with 2G and 3G( upto 21 Mbps).
I tested out this phone thoroughly. I opened heavy apps like facebook, Chrome, Temple Run 2 and Asphalt 7 and didn't even notice a stutter in between switching the apps. I tried out games like Asphalt 7 , NFS most wanted and Real Racing 3. All 3 games ran smoothly and looked beautiful on the 4.5 inch screen. The phone chunked out 9 hours of battery life after playing real racing 3 for 45 minutes, using 3G for 2 hours and watching an HD 3 hour movie.
The camera surprised me (in a positive way). It took surprisingly quality and crisp photos. The color optimization worked well. The LEd flash was a bit dull compared to other phones. Low light photos looked good too.
The phone retails for around Rs 9700 online but I'm sure you can find better prices at a local shop.
Overall, this phone is a deal you can't afford to miss. It has got a lot of potential and it can handle anything you throw at it. I reccomend this phone to anyone who's finding a phone under the price range of Rs 10,000.
Let me know if you are going to buy this phone in the comments section!

Gamepad for your Android phone? Samsung might've heard you!

Samsung recently announced the Gamepad, a gaming controller for devices with android 4.1 and above. Rumors have started spreading that Samsung might bundle this Gamepad along with a Galaxy Note 3 8.0 as the Note 3 Game edition. This game edition might include the Gamepad, Note 3 and an HDMI adapter.
ve
The gamepad can be connected via bluetooth or an HDMI cable. Android devices with screen size ranging from 4 inch to 6.3 inch can be docked and since the Note 3 8.0 is too large, it can be connected via HDMI. Samsung hasn't officially announced anything about the game edition yet but this rumor might be close to true.

No official announcement means no pricing but expect this special edition to retail for around Rs. +50 K.

The best tablet money can buy : The iPad Air

Apple changed the definition of smartphones by introducing the iPhone. Then it paved a way for tablets after launching the iPad, which revolutionized the world. Not much change has been made since the launch of iPad 3, but this time, the iPad Air has received some major modifications. It's lighter, faster and Apple has made the best tablet even better!

It's got the same 64 bit A7 dual core processor (along with the M7 motion co-processor) which is found inside the iPhone 5S but now clocks at 1.4 GHZ. The GPU has been updated and the iPad Air now features a PowerVR G6430 GPU. It's of course faster than the previous model's GPU but you won't notice any fps increase in any game since no game can utilize the full potential of this GPU ( or the precious one). The RAM didn't receive any updates and is still the same 1 GB. The screen is the still Apple's proprietary 9.7 inch IPS Retina Display. The iPad Air now boasts 2 speakers instead of one. The camera is also the same iSight 5 MP camera with Auto Focus, HDR, Full HD (1080p) video recording at 30 fps and Geo tagging but what sits beside the camera is an LED Flash. The front camera is a 1.2 MP camera with HD recording at 30 fps. Other specs include Bluetooth v4.0, Wifi 802.11 ac/a/b/g/n , GPS with Glonass, Proximity Sensor, Ambient Light Sensor and a Compass. The iPad Air is extremely light weighing just 469 grams and the outer design has also been changed. The iPad Air now looks more like a 9.7 inch iPhone with rectangular borders rather than the curved ones.

The 64 bit processor does provide a bump in load times. Apps and Games load and switch faster. Not much apps utilize the potential of the 64 bit architecture but they will once the developers get their hands on the DEV kit. I tried out Real Racing 3 and it was thrilling to play it on the iPad Air without any lag (it didn't lag on the iPad 4 either). The speakers are louder than ever and iOS 7 is blazing fast on this tablet. The iPad Air ships with iOS 7 (as of the time of this writing) and the iPad Air Wifi only version retails at around Rs 36K (Flipkart) and the Wifi + 3G model at Rs 45K (Flipkart).

For users who are willing to buy their first tablet or upgrade from an older one, i would definitely recommend this tablet to them. You won't go back to anything else after using this tablet and that's for sure. The iPad Air will definitely WOW you and you won't regret buying it.

This tablet is the king of the kings and it looks like this isn't going to change for some time ( a looooong time )

The Best Smartphone on Earth( and no, it's not an Apple)

Smartphones have changed the way we work, play or socialize... From a plethora of the smartest devices from different manufacturers, it wasn't so easy to choose the best of the best. I had to choose from the Samsung Galaxy S4 , the iPhone 5S , HTC One, the Nexus 5 and the LG G2.
Well, the HTC One steals the crown away! Not only has HTC made this phone close to perfect, it has also crafted it beautifully and boy it looks amazing. Not to miss the Blink Feed which is the HTC version of Live tiles (from Microsoft) and of course, the all new HTC Sense 5.0 which makes it a fascinating device.

Specifications

To start off, the phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 clocked at 1.8 GHZ along with Adreno 330 clocked at 450 MHZ. It comes with Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2.HTC One features a gorgeous 4.7 inch 1080p screen with a pixel density of 468 ppi. 2 GB RAM is sufficient along with 32/64 GB internal memory. The camera is a 4 MP with OIS. But don't get confused with it's small pixel count because HTC has revved up the size of each pixel to 2.0 which helps it capture quality pics even in low light( sometimes even better than the iPhone 5S or GS4) . Connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0 , Wifi a/ac/b/g/n 2.5/5 GHZ, NFC, DLNA  Direct DLNA, HTC connect and Infrared. Other than all this, the HTC One features beats audio , dual front speakers with built in amplifier and BOOM SOUND and LED flash. It supports 2G/3G/4G LTE.HTC promises 3G talktime of 18 hours.

According to me, the screen size is perfect. Not too big, not too small: Just perfect. The processor is very powerful and the RAM is more than enough to handle 10-15 apps at once. You won't have any problem in switching between apps. The OS is intuitive and smooooooth. HTC sense will make you a lover of the phone and so will the Blink Feed.

The price of the 32GB model is Rs 41949 (Flipkart)

What do you think guys? Do you love it and accept it as the king or not?
